Source hierarchy
We prioritize UNESCO bodies, public records and gazetteers, museums, archives and academic institutions. Promotional language never replaces verifiable historical evidence.
LIXIANGZHAI / EDITORIAL NOTE
Lixiangzhai is an expanding atlas of Chinese cities, combining researched essays, real photographs and verifiable references to explore urban space, memory, craft and innovation.
01 / Our approach
Each chapter selects evidence that serves its central question while preserving a broad historical arc. History, culture and technology follow the city’s own formation, with distinct periods clearly identified.

03 / EDITORIAL POLICY
Last revised: 2026-10-30
We prioritize UNESCO bodies, public records and gazetteers, museums, archives and academic institutions. Promotional language never replaces verifiable historical evidence.
Dates, heritage status and institutional information are checked where possible. Editorial interpretation is distinguished from verified fact, and symbolic parallels are not presented as direct causality.
Every photograph retains its creator, original file and license. Cropping, resizing and format conversion are disclosed with the image credits.
Pages are revised when authoritative information changes, an error is identified or context needs strengthening. City chapters display a source-review date, and corrections are welcome by email.
Lixiangzhai is centered on urban history, culture and space. Advertising code does not determine city selection, sourcing or editorial conclusions.
04 / CORRECTIONS
